In August of 2006 Bruce Robertson was a guest on CNN’s Nancy Grace. The topic was the arrest of actor Mel Gibson for driving under the influence of alcohol in Malibu, CA. Robertson discussed preferential treatment Gibson received while being arrested by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. It was reported that Gibson went on a profanity laden tirade that included racial slurs directed at Jews after being pulled over for drunk driving. Robertson described standard operation procedures in such cases and pointed out several instances where Gibson got preferential treatment that the average person would not have gotten.
